The Gaslight Anthem
February 10, 2009

Artist Bio:
Although New Brunswick, New Jersey’s The Gaslight Anthem have only technically been a band for two-and-a-half years, in that short amount of time they’ve managed to become one of the fastest rising independent rock bands in the world, spurring a cultish fan base with their music, completing successful tours with acts like Against Me!, and having their new album “The ‘59 Sound” make countless year end Top 10 lists for 2008.
2009 is already shaping up to be a banner year for the band. Starting with an incredible performance on Late Show With David Letterman, then in February they hop the pond for a full European tour. They will be back in North America headlining a tour in March and April that will take them across Canada, then this summer they will hit the festival circuit bringing their Jersey-bred brand of soul-infused punk rock to cities everywhere. And unlike a lot of today’s rock sensations, The Gaslight Anthem aren’t going to take a single second of their ride for granted. “We’re not that young and we’ve already had our hands in the real world, working terrible jobs,” Horowitz explains, adding that The Gaslight Anthem’s line-up has never changed, and that there’s a bond between all of them that’s difficult to describe. “We didn’t go straight from underground music to this fantasy world of being a professional musician, we all did the other side and didn’t like it,” he summarizes, sounding palpably excited. “If this is in front of us and this is actually possible, well that’s the best thing in the world, you know,” he adds with a grin, “and we’ll smile every time we play, that’s a fact.”
Radio Strategy:
Take their single “The ‘59 Sound” to the targets of Modern Rock/Rock/Alternative radio nationally. Focus will be on achieving maximum spins at stations while also looking for opportunities around their upcoming Canadian tour to partner with stations through interviews, contesting, and performances.
